A bit of this and a bit of that

Hello! How's things? I hope you're all well, and happy.
I thought I would start this post with some flowers, the above ones I saw on a recent run, and the below ones were sent to me.

This week, the youngest daughter and I have been having fun. We went on this.....

and looked out and saw this.....

walked along here.....

and manouevered our way around this giant sticky maze. It was a giant maze, made of sticky tape, and you were given strips of paper as you entered, to add to the maze.
This was part of the Out Of the Box festival in our town. It's a massive under eights festival, with fabulous performances, and so much great stuff to do. I have no idea who the random child in the below picture is, but he seems to be enjoying the maze. Unfortunately I cant tell you if he made it through or not....fingers crossed he did :-)

We also went to a dinosaur petting zoo, which had fabulous huge, frighteningly realistic puppets. I mean, really realistic puppets, they were amazing!!!! We also saw a couple of amazing performances, The race for the Chinese Zodiac, and Me and My Shadow, both of which were based on books.

I've been doing a bit of running lately, and have decided to enter in a half marathon in a week and a half. I used to run regularly, but have had about a seven year break from it. I have really been enjoying getting back into it. The above photo was from one of my longer runs. I like taking photos along the way, as it gives me a chance to stop and catch my breath.

On the making and reading front, I am linking in as always with Ginny AND Tami . I'm reading The Snowman, by Jo Nesbo, and really enjoying it. I have become quite fond of the Scandinavian thriller genre lately.
I'm not sure what it is that I'm making here.
I started thinking it was going to be a cushion cover that I was going to try felting, but I had totally misjudged the amount of yarn I had for this, and the length of the cushion. So it's been a success in terms of felting, although I think it needs a couple more goes in the washing machine, but I have no idea what to do with it.
Any ideas will be gratefully welcomed.

  1. ooh lovely piece of crochet, I hope to get to big pieces sometime soon too. you seem to have been busy, but having lots of fun too. have a great wednesday xxx

  2. I am totally impressed by your deciding to run a half marathon. Go for it lady! How did you get back into it? Have you ever practised the walk-run-walk method? (Do you know what I mean?) I'm really happy to have my new bicycle. I NEED to get out of the house and breathe and move in the fresh air. It can be a little tricky to find a time slot just for me though.

    Have a beautiful sunny week.

  3. You always find such lovely places to visit- that maze looks (ahem) amazing! Let's hope that kid found his freedom!!
Well done on the running too- and good luck for the half marathon.
Enjoy the rest of the week.

  4. Lots of lovely news and pics, cool about the half marathon, go you! I would so be a terrible runner, but I quite like a long walk and have been getting out most days with Chester, pedometer and music, even on the rainy days it's you listen to music when you run?

Could you double up the crochet, sew up the sides and make a bag, or is it too narrow, I can't would only need to make some long handles to go over your shoulder? Just a thought!

  5. Great photos. I love the maze.

  6. Love the photos! Sounds like a really fun and interesting festival!! Good luck with your half marathon- that's amazing!!!

  7. You live in the best place ever! That maze is fab. We have a Maize Maze one of the farmers does every year in the village, but I get the fear, I can't go in there.

I've been wondering if I should start running. I mean I HAT exercise but I realise I cannot eat what I like and expect my body to be how it was. It's mood enhancing too and if I'm ever going to ditch the meds I'll need all the help I can get.

I realise I never replied about the tea towel. I really can't take on any more wips! I reckon you should do a give away on the blog.

    Good to 'see' you dude.

  8. Wow, congrats on the half marathon! Your photos are simply lovely, too. :)

  9. cool activities in that fabulous place for the little people.

  11. You've been busy, good luck going back to the running :) I love cosmos, we used to grow them in Africa and they remind me of home, here in the uk although the do grow, do not seem as willowy and delicate or as beautiful as I remember them. Lovely photos x
