Rainbow Blanket- Ta da, (also requesting some advice)

Good Morning and happy weekend to all.
I am extremely happy to be introducing my completed Rainbow blanket.

I would like to be able to show you the process of having made this gorgeous finished object, however, my stupid "smartphone" got itself some type of virus, and had to be reset losing all my photos (not to mention podcasts, books I was halfway through reading, music etc etc).
But on the positive side, I have finished my blanket- hurrah!!

I have been making this for some time, you may remember I have mentioned it previously.
It's for my youngest brother and his lovely bride to be, who are getting married next month.
My sister in law mentioned once that she used to love rainbows when she was little, so there was nothing for it but to make them a rainbow blanket!!

I really loved the long slow process of making this blanket, although to be honest, by the end, the having to unfold it every time I wanted to do some rows became quite laborious.

I love the concept of crocheting love into a gift.
For me there is also the concept of how much TV I watched whilst making this. I am pretty sure there is at least one season of Mad Men, and half a season of big Love crocheted in there as well!

In other news, here are some shots of the sunrise from my morning walk.....

And of some lovely white goodness on the way home....

And finally here is where daughter#2 and I have been spending this lovely Sunday morning, her with hot chocolate, me with a chai tea, her drawing pictures, me reading the paper. Both of us happy and content with the lovely sunny morning and each others company.

You may see "Stinky Toby" her best cuddly toy bunny that she adores, and goes everywhere with. She named him- no surprises there!!!
All in all a lovely Sunday morning. Hope you all have the same, and a lovely lovely week.

Mines will be starting well, I have the day off tomorrow, so it's a long weekend for me, and daughter #1 and I are going clothes shopping. Can't wait! :)

oops got to the end and was about to press publish before I realised I had forgotten the advice request!!!
I really want to embroider my brother and sister in laws names and the date of their wedding into the blanket, but wasn't sure how to do so- any ideas??

  1. Everyone needs a rainbow blanket- mine is still in progress. For the lable,I would reccomend making a cotton patch. It will sit really nice and flat onto the blanet. Then either wack it under the sewing machine, or embroider the patch on be hand. Either way, I know they will LOVE it!

  2. Gorgeous! Such beautiful vibrant colours! I have no idea how you do the embroidery thing but it's a fab idea. I have bought some yarn to make a baby blanket... just need to find someone with a baby now...!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

  4. Beautiful! I love it and I'm sure they will too. I can't help with the embroidery thing, I'm afraid, though I do think the idea of sewing an embroidered patch on sounds good.
How have you worked this blanket? Is it two rows of trebles in each colour? (Can you see where I'm going with this...?)
